Since the Industrial Revolution, the invention of the tractor and chemically synthesised fertiliser, the world has become a vastly different place.
Humans have felt without question, entitled. We have intervened on the land, made it a landscape. We have created vast systems of agriculture and built civilizations so large the planet cannot support them; systems and civilisations centered around the comfort of humankind. Since the early 20th century we have forged a set of stories by which to live; to be wealthy, to be happy, to be family, to be civilized.
These photographs depict the country around Melbourne which has been ransacked by agriculture, development and mining.
